Global Mystery Concept Map

This assignment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to identify logical connections between seemingly unrelated events that span across borders and continents while applying critical thinking skills.

Focus
Interpreting clues to construct a concept map and answer related questions.

Setup 
Students work in groups of three or pairs.

Instructions
Your group will be assigned a mystery to solve.

  1. In your group (or pair), review the prompting question and the clues related to your scenario to solve the mystery.  
  2. Use the clues to construct a detailed concept map (see example) adhering to the following rules:
    i) Blocks may only contain nouns or noun phrases.
    ii) Links must include verbs or verb phrases. These may be in the passive voice.
  3. Complete the Concept Map Checklist.
  4. Complete the questions once you have completely compiled your concept map from the clues.
